Carswell Gould had been winning a lot of new clients, and it was becoming increasingly obvious that we needed to look at getting another member of staff into the PR department. We considered local press and advertising in PR Week but, as we were hoping for a recent graduate, decided to experiment with several university jobs websites first.

The Graduate Jobs Southampton website was particularly useful, as it was so easy to use, we emailed them with what we wanted and they emailed details directly to students. The response was fantastic - within days we had over thirty applicants from soon-to-be graduates.

We interviewed around ten people from various Universities, and gave second interviews to three people, all from Southampton Solent University. We decided to hire advertising student Liz Batley in the role of PR Junior Account Executive, as throughout both interviews she was professional, well presented, well mannered and eager to learn. Liz started with us in May 2007.
